Mikołaj Sikała

Mikołaj Sikała is a graduate of the Stanisław Moniuszko Academy of Music in Gdańsk, where he studied piano with Kordian Góra, and chamber music with Elżbieta Pasierowska and Bożena Szull-Talar. He completed both his bachelor?s and master?s degrees with distinction, and he is now studying for his doctorate in piano with Elżbieta Pasierowska. He had also completed a piano class with Alicja Michowska and Małgorzata Stożyńska at the Combined Schools of Music in Gdańsk-Wrzeszcz. Sikała has performed both at home and abroad ? in Germany, Italy, Spain, Romania, the Czech Republic and Bulgaria ? as a soloist and a chamber musician, collaborating in a piano duo with Adam Piórkowski and in a duo with cellist Maciej Kułakowski, amongst other artists. 

He has garnered a plethora of prizes and other trophies at competitions organised in Görlitz/Zgorzelec (2011), Warsaw (2011), Radziejowice (2014), Łomianki (2014 and 2015), Rome (2015), Bucharest (2016), Gdańsk (2016 and 2017), Orbetello (2018) and Geilenkirchen (2018). One of his recent laurels is the third prize brought from the Eighth International Piano Competition in Verona held in 2019. In 2015, he became the laureate of the Estrada Młodych (Stage for the Youth) at the Forty-Ninth Polish Piano Music Festival in Słupsk, where he also picked up two special prizes: the prize named after Jerzy Waldorff and the prize awarded by the Social and Cultural Society of Słupsk. In February 2017, he won the Scholarship Competition awarded by the Yamaha Music Foundation in Łódź. He was also a finalist at the competitions in Katowice in 2018 and Salzburg in 2019.
