Ivan Shemchuk

He started to play the piano at the age of three taught by his mother and went on to study under Elvira Ryzhonok and Ludmila Zakopets. He also perfected his skills during master classes conducted by such musicians as Urszula Bartkiewicz, Irina Rumiancewa-Dabrowski, Vera Nosina, Mikhail Voskresensky, Andrzej Jasiński, Sergei Edelmann, Boris Bloch, Igor Tchetuev, Vladimir Vinnitsky, Eugen Indjic, Philippe Giusiano, Dina Joffe, Kevin Kenner, Akiko Ebi, Takashi Yamamoto and Lidia Grychtołówna. He graduated with distinction from the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz, where he studied with Jarosław Drzewiecki. He has appeared in concert in Ukraine, Slovakia, Lithuania, Italy, Denmark, Russia, the Czech Republic, Moldova, Romania and Germany, where he performed solo, chamber and orchestral works. 

In 2020, the label DUX released his debut recording titled Rachmaninov: Piano Transcriptions. As a soloist and a chamber musician (a member of the Andriuti-Shemchuk Piano Duo together with Alina Andriuti-Shemchuk), he has won a number of Grands Prix and first prizes at competitions held in Denmark, Russia, Lithuania, the Czech Republic and Poland. Between 2016 and 2018, he worked as an accompanist at the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz. Since 2018, he has been employed at the Romanian National Opera in Iaşi. He has won scholarships granted by Elżbieta and Krzysztof Penderecki, the city of Bydgoszcz, Mera-Pnefal S.A. and the Minister of Culture and National Heritage (in the academic years 2015/2016, 2016/2017 and 2017/2018).
