Igor Pylatyuk

Violinist, conductor, teacher and musicologist, promoter of Ukrainian music. Frequent member of the juries at prestigious competitions. Rector of the Lviv National Music Academy named after Mykola Lysenko. Recipient of numerous state awards and medals in Ukraine and Poland.

He received the award of the Merited Artist of Ukraine in 1993 and the People?s Artist of Ukraine in 1999. He became the doctor of arts in 2003 and has been an ordinary member of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine with the title of academician since 2017. He has been rector of the Lviv National Music Academy named after Mykola Lysenko since 1999. He has a very busy schedule as a concert performer and an organiser of artistic projects. His activities focus on the promotion of Ukrainian culture around the world. As a teacher, he has trained more than thirty winners of international music competitions. Together with his students, he has been promoting the Ukrainian repertoire, which, upon his initiative, is subsequently performed on tour in Europe and the United States.

Pylatyuk founded the Academic Chamber Orchestra of the Ivano-Frankivsk Philharmonic ?Harmonia Nobile?, famous throughout Ukraine, where he worked as artistic director and principal conductor for fifteen years. Since 1999, he has been principal conductor of the Lviv Chamber Orchestra ?Academy?, with whom he has frequently appeared in Ukraine, Germany, Sweden and Poland, regularly taking part, since 2007, in the annual International Piano Forum ?Bieszczady Without Borders? in Sanok. He has also collaborated with other Lviv-based orchestras, such as the Academic Symphony Orchestra of the Lviv Philharmonic, the Trembita Orchestra, the Symphony Orchestra of the Opera Studio of Lviv National Music Academy named after Mykola Lysenko and the Lviv Virtuosos Academic Chamber Orchestra.

He has received a plethora of awards and medals, including the Ukrainian Order of Merit Third Class (2004), the Stanyslav Lyudkevych Award (2007), the Order of Prince Yaroslav the Wise Fifth Degree (2009), the honorary medal ?For Merit to Polish Culture? (2015), the Silver Medal For Merit to Culture ?Gloria Artis? (2019), the Gold Medal of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine (2019) and the Pope Benedict XVI Diploma.
