Alexandros Jusakos

Chilean pianist, teacher and member of jury at piano competitions. Recorded thirteen CDs with solo and chamber music repertoire. Founder of the Fundación Pianos para Chile.

Jusakos graduated from the University of Chile in Santiago and the Feliks Nowowiejski Academy of Music in Bydgoszcz. He holds the title of a doctor of arts from the Fryderyk Chopin University of Music. His teachers included Mario Baeza Cortés, Fernando Cortés, Elvira Savi, Wiesława Skrzypek-Ronowska and Jarosław Drzewiecki. He perfected his skills at master classes conducted by Austrian pianist Paul Badura-Skoda in 1996.

The musician has won prizes at competitions held in Poland and Chile, including the first prize at the Young Soloists Competition organised by the Chile Symphony Orchestra (1991), two special prizes for an outstanding performance of Chopin?s music at the Ninth Foreign Scholarship Pianists Tournament for the Prince Antoni Radziwiłł Prize in Antonin (1996) and the second prize at the First International Master Competition for Music Teachers in Warsaw (2013). He also won the Arrau Medal in 2001. As a soloist, he has performed alongside symphony orchestras in Chile, Poland and other countries. He has appeared with recitals in the countries of America, Europe and Asia. He has recorded thirteen CDs with solo and chamber music repertoire. As a member of the jury, he has taken part in piano competitions in Chile, Argentina, Peru, Ecuador and Poland. He is currently employed as a professor at the Conservatorio de Música de la Universidad Mayor in Santiago, Chile.

In 2012, Jusakos founded the Pianos para Chile foundation, which focuses on the cultural development of Chile, especially in its remotest and most underdeveloped regions. The foundation prides itself on supplying musical instruments to cultural, educational and social institutions throughout the country.
